Has your child or some other family member or friend started talking about gender in new ways? Are they asking you to use new or different pronouns? Are some of the terms a little hard to understand? WJCS Center Lane is here to help you through this gender journey! Join us in ‘Towards Understanding Gender,’ an introductory presentation that discusses current language about identities within the LGBTQ+ community with special focus on Gender Identities. This interactive session is designed for parents, adult family members and friends to address some of the common misconceptions about LGBTQ+ identities, the relationship of Gender, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression, and uses some notable people representing different parts of the community to help with our understanding. We conclude with some tips on preferred language, including the importance of pronouns, and the ways parents and other family members can support the LGBTQ+ people in their lives.
