Homer is a 12-year-old orphan from Pine Swamp, Maine whose older brother, Harold, has been sold into the Union Army. Homer sets out to find him and has to outwit and outrun a collection of thieves, spies and other unsavory characters on the way. His adventurous search leads him to the Battle of Gettysburg...will he find his brother or will he be too late?
