- Tell your family story - Fill in the missing pieces - Preserve the history for future generations. Ample time will be allowed for questions. Alan Steinfeld has been exploring his family’s genealogy for over 40 years. A native of NYC, he traces his ancestry to Russia and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His studies have turned up over 5,500 relatives and stimulated a book on the subject as well as a family newsletter now in its 33rd year. He has written articles published in Avotaynu, the International Journal of Jewish Genealogy, and contributed a chapter to the book Every Family has a Story.
