Description:
Ellen O’Connell, White Plains resident and retired English teacher, will moderate a discussion of "The Yellow House," by Sara M. Broom. In this memoir, a 2019 National Book Award winner for nonfiction and "New York Times" bestseller, the author tells the story of the East New Orleans shotgun house in which her widowed mother, Ivory Mae, raised twelve children and the pull the house exerted on her family, even after it was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. Robin Roberts of "Good Morning America" called it “A remarkable journey... Her tale is one of loss, love, and resilience.” The book is available at our Library and also in a digital version from OverDrive and Libby.
